How to Play Sumabl

The Goal

Clear the board by summing all numbers into the centre in the fewest moves possible.

How to Move

Drag segments one space at a time, around or inward, never outward.

A number can only move onto an equal or lower number.

The number in the dragged segment is added to the number in the target segment.

Blank segments are out of play - they can't move and can't be moved onto.

Be sure to drag carefully. Once you start moving you are locked into moving in that direction - either inwards or around. It can be easy to accidentally drop onto the wrong segment. If you are moving in the wrong direction drop the segment back where it was and move it again.

Resets

Tap Reset to restart the board at any time.

If you can't make a valid move and the board isn't clear, the game ends — reset and try again.

Three Ways to Play

Sumabl offers three difficulty modes, each using the same daily board but adding layers of challenge as you step up.

Easy - Just Clear the Board

The purest version of Sumabl. No extra rules, no constraints — just you and the numbers. The centre starts at 0 and grows as you drop numbers onto it. Work out your path, make your moves, and clear the board. Perfect for getting started or for a relaxed daily puzzle session.

Medium - Every Three Moves, Play the Centre

The board is the same, but there's a catch: every three moves, you must make a move into the centre. You can't just build up numbers on the outer rings and funnel them in at the end. Medium forces you to keep the centre in mind at all times, which completely changes how you plan your moves. A great next step once you've got Easy figured out.

Hard - Hit the Target

This is Sumabl at its most demanding. Instead of a running total, the centre displays a target number. You need to hit that exact number by summing the right combination of segments into it. Hit the target, and it changes to the next one. Clear all the targets and the board is complete. One wrong move and you might overshoot — and there's no going back.

Strategy Tips

New to Sumabl or trying to cut down your move count? These tips will help:

Work from the outside in as the outer rings have the most movement options early on.

Look out for move locked segments. A number surrounded by higher number cannot move and signfied bt a lighter colour. You must move a larger number onto this segment to increase its value so it is high enough to be able to move.

Plan the centre last in Easy, but not in Medium. In Easy mode you can largely ignore the centre until you're ready. In Medium, keep an eye on your moves and know when your next mandatory centre move is due.

In Hard mode, work out your moves in advance. Look at the target number and figure out which combinations on the board could reach it. Don't just move - calculate first.

Where to Start?

If you're new to Sumabl — start with Easy. Get comfortable with the movement rules and the feel of the circular board before adding extra constraints. Most players can clear an Easy board within a few sessions.

If you play daily puzzles regularly — Medium is probably your home. The mandatory centre rule adds just enough pressure to keep things interesting without becoming frustrating.

If you want a genuine mental challenge — Hard is waiting for you. Matching targets while managing the board requires a level of forward planning that will keep experienced puzzle players engaged for a long time.
